SAFTEA Defensive Handgun 1

Are you ready to move beyond the basics? The North Side Sportsmen’s Association is proud to host the SAFTEA Defensive Handgun 1 Course on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

This isn’t just target practice—it’s about protection. This 10-hour intermediate course is designed to give you the tactical skills and mental preparedness needed to protect yourself and your loved ones in a home defense scenario.

The Details

  • When: Saturday, March 14, 2026 | 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Where: NSSA Classroom and Range
  • Cost: $125 per person
  • Eligibility: NSSA members, immediate family (21+), or sponsored adult guests.
  • Prerequisite: Completion of F.A.S.T. Handgun, NRA Basic Pistol, or equivalent.

What You’ll Master

This course blends classroom theory with high-intensity live-fire drills (150 rounds). Key topics include:

  • Defensive shooting fundamentals and natural stances.
  • Single-handed and two-handed engagements.
  • Integrating the “Color Code” into daily life.
  • Using cover, concealment, and clearing common stoppages.
  • Note: This course is a prerequisite for SAFTEA Defensive Handgun 2 and 3.
