On December 14th NSSA hosted a rifle match to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
True to weather conditions experienced at the start
of the actual battle, we had solid heavy overcast and drizzle. (But unlike the Ardennes on December 16, 1944, we had no fog.)
Nine shooters participated in this just-for-fun event. It consisted of 16 slow-fire rounds from a bolt action rifle followed by 24 rapid-fire rounds from an M1 Garand.

As a reminder, the 2015 CMP planning meeting is January 19 @ 7 PM in the clubhouse. You do not need to have participated in any CMP events to go to the meeting, and the meeting is open to all club members.

NSSA’s CMP Program will sponsor a Battle of the Bulge Shoot commemorating the 70th anniversary of the WWII battle in Europe,
open to all interested shooters:
Date and time: Sunday December 14, 2014 at 10 AM. Registration starts at 9:30
Place: Rifle range at NSSA, 325 Mt Pleasant Road, Warrendale, PA.
Cost: $10
Course of fire, 2 stages:
Stage 1: 16 rounds slow fire, 16 minutes, any position, at 200 yards. Proceeded by 3 minute sight-in, up to 5 rounds. Preferred rifle 8mm K98, but any period bolt rifle acceptable. Iron sights only. This replicates the German side.
Stage 2: 24 rounds rapid fire in 4 minutes at 200 yards, 3 positions (in any order) from an M1 Garand. Again proceeded by 3 minute sight-in, up to 5
rounds (slow fire). 24 rounds in 3 eight round clips, one clip in each position. No loading of clips until in next position. This simulates the American side.
Additional points:
What to bring: an M1 Garand with 29 rounds and 3 clips, and a military bolt rifle with 21 rounds. Spotting scope, shooting mat, and sling. Check the weather and dress accordingly.
NSSA’s Rifle Committee will hold sight-ins days for hunting rifles on November 22 and 23, and also Nov 29 and 30, from 8 am til 4 pm.
The eight week Indoor Archery League starts on Tuesday November 25. Cost is $30.

The rifle range will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 11 so that the new berm can be seeded and covered in straw matting. This may also affect trap shooting.
The ranges will be closed as long as there are people working to ensure their safety. Thanks for your patience as we improve the property.
All members should have new access cards by now, and they should be working properly. Please let someone know if you have any problems, or if you haven’t received your new card, please contact the membership chairman.
Please remember that rules for using the new cards are the same: You are responsible for its use, and only you can use it. If you lose it, you must let the membership chairman know immediately so it can be turned off and a new one issued. You cannot lend it to non-members, and you must accompany all guests on NSSA grounds. Please comply with these rules to keep our club safe
