Fall 2026 Youth Air Rifle Begins Oct 24

NSSA is proud to announce its 2026 Fall Youth Air Rifle Program will start on Oct 24, 2026. The focus of the program is to provide instruction from the Winchester/NRA Air-rifle qualification course on firearms safety and development of shooting skills. The program will be run by NRA accredited instructors and volunteers.

All equipment and ammunition will be provided by NSSA

Dates: Oct. 24, Oct. 31, Nov. 7, Nov. 14

Times: 9 am to 10 am
10:15 am to 11:15 am
11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Ages: Boys/Girls 10 – 17

Rifle Range Golf Cart Orientation Sept 12 2026

The Rifle Range Committee will host golf cart orientation sessions on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Please note that the range will be closed during these hours to accommodate training.

Session Details & Registration

  • Format: 15-minute sessions, beginning at 9:00 AM.
  • Capacity: Limited to 2 members per session.
  • Sign-Up: Registration is strictly required via the Golf Cart Training Sign Up page. Due to time constraints, only members who are signed up in advance will be trained.

2026 Family Picnic Sept 19th

Northside Sportsmen’s Association will be holding a Family Picnic on Saturday, September 19th, 2026. This picnic is free for all current members and their immediate family members (spouse, children/grandchildren under 18 years old). As usual, we will be processing membership renewals throughout the day. Guests are welcome but must pay a fee of $25 at the door.

All attendees must RSVP no later than September 7th in order for us to ensure that enough food is available. You can RSVP by clicking on this link: 2026 FAMILY PICNIC RSVP and following the instructions on the Sign Up

Food will be served from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and will include picnic favorites along with water and soft drinks.

We’ll also have games and activities to keep the fun going all afternoon!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! As usual, we need your help to make the picnic possible. Remember: Every hour you volunteer earns you a discount on your annual dues!

Fall 2026 Trap League Begins Aug 27th

Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 12-week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights at the end of the league.

Our League starts Thursday, August 27th, with a 50 bird pre-season shoot. This shoot is a great opportunity for shooters to dust off their guns and get back out on the range. Following the 50 bird shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.

Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $14 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club. 

Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! Please be advised that shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice instead, however league squads will have preference over trap availability.

Children’s Hospital Fundraiser Trap Shoot – Aug 29 2026

Please join us on Saturday, Aug 29, 2026, for the annual Children’s Hospital Fundraiser Trap Shoot, hosted at our club by the Shrine Gun Club. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Shriners Children’s Hospitals while enjoying a day of trap shooting competition.
The event is open to the public, and lunch is included for all shooters. For complete details on the program, times, costs, and prize purses, please see the flyer. CLUB OPENS AT 9AM SHOOTING BEGINS SHORTLY AFTER.

PA Hunter Trapper Education Aug 29 2026

Note: The class will take place in the Archery Range. A trap shoot is also scheduled in the Meeting room.

Overview

This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.

A light lunch will be provided by NSSA to all participants.

Important In order to prepare for your class, read Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 located at Today’s Hunter & Trapper in PA.

NOTE: You must be at least 11 years of age to register for this class!

2027 Membership Renewals

We’re pleased to announce that the 2027 membership renewal process is officially underway! To make it easy and efficient, we’re once again encouraging all members to renew their dues in person at the clubhouse. 

Upcoming In-Person Renewal Dates:

Mark your calendars for our in-person renewal opportunities:

  • Wednesday, July 8th: 4 PM – 7 PM
  • Tuesday July 14: 3 PM–6 PM
  • Thursday July 16: 4 PM–7 PM
  • Tuesday, July 21st: 4 PM – 7 PM

Important: Please remember to bring your access card with you. We accept a variety of payment methods: cash, debit/credit cards (including chip cards and Apple/Samsung Pay), or checks made payable to NSSA. Note: A surcharge will apply to all credit card transactions.

2027 Membership Dues & Specific Requirements:

  • Regular Members: Dues remain at $140.
  • Volunteers: If you’ve contributed volunteer hours, bring your signed volunteer card. You could receive a discount of up to $70 for 7 or more hours, or $10 off per hour for less than 7 hours.
  • Junior Members: Dues remain at $10.
  • Collegiate Members: Dues remain at $20. Please provide a copy of your current full-time college schedule to qualify for this rate.
  • Military Members: Dues are waived. Provide a copy of your current active duty orders. Thank you for your service!
  • Life Members: Even with your orange “LIFE” sticker, you are still required to renew to confirm your continued membership at NSSA. You can renew in person, by emailing  membership@northsidesportsmen.com , or by US mail once paper forms are distributed.

For Those Unable to Renew In Person:

Renewal invoices will be emailed no later than September 1st. If you cannot renew in person, please wait to receive your invoice via email. This invoice will allow you to securely renew online with just a few clicks.

If you prefer not to pay online, you may avoid the processing fee by printing the invoice and mailing/dropping off a check at the club with the invoice enclosed. A drop box is available at the club house office cashier window.

Your 2027 sticker will be mailed to you once your renewal processed.

We hope many of you will take advantage of this new online option to save time and keep your membership active without delay.

Any checks sent via US mail without the proper renewal form will be returned unprocessed.

If you’ve recently moved, please update your address with NSSA now to ensure you receive all future communications.

Recognizing Fish Fry Volunteers and the Conclusion of Lent

There is something special about the way a community comes together over a shared meal. Over the past several weeks, NSSA has been buzzing with activity during our Friday Fish Fries. As we wrap up this season, we want to take a moment to look back and thank the people who made every single one of those Fridays a success.

​The Backbone of the Kitchen: Carrie Franklin

​Behind every great operation is a leader who keeps the gears turning, and for our kitchen, that person is Carrie Franklin. As our Kitchen Chairwoman, Carrie has been the true backbone of this entire campaign. From the first Friday to the last, her tireless planning, organization, and dedication ensured that hundreds of meals were served with quality and care.

​Carrie, thank you for your leadership and for the countless hours you spent making sure our kitchen ran like a well-oiled machine. We simply couldn’t have done it without you.

​To Our Volunteers: Our Greatest Asset

​To everyone who stepped up week after week—manning the fryers, prepping the sides, and serving our guests with a smile—thank you. A recurring event like this is a marathon, not a sprint. Your consistency and willingness to show up and work hard created a warm, welcoming environment for everyone who walked through our doors. It’s the heart of our volunteers that truly defines the spirit of NSSA.

​To the members of the community who joined us over these past several Fridays: it was a pleasure to have you. We hope you enjoyed the food and got a feel for what our club is all about. ​As we moved through these weeks together, culminating in our final gathering on Good Friday, it has been a wonderful season of fellowship and service. Our recent air rifle competition, organized by the Keystone Paralyzed Veterans of America (KPVA), was more than just a display of talent—it was a powerful example of inner strength and perseverance. We are proud to honor the incredible individuals and partners who made this day a resounding success.

To Our Competitors:

The True Meaning of Grit – To the veterans who took their marks at the firing line: thank you for inspiring us. Watching the focus in your eyes and the steadiness of your aim was a profound reminder of what it means to overcome.We recognize that the path that led you here is marked by your service to our country. Whether through the rigors of duty or accidents sustained while serving, the challenges you face today—are met with a quiet, unshakable resolve.The moment the competition began, those physical realities were secondary to the sheer determination on display. Using specialized gear and adaptive techniques, you showed us that there is no obstacle too great for a person fueled by purpose. Each shot fired was a testament to your resilience; you proved that marksmanship is defined by the spirit of the shooter, not their physical circumstances.

Looking Ahead
