Rifle Range Golf Cart Orientation Sept 12 2026

The Rifle Range Committee will host golf cart orientation sessions on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Please note that the range will be closed during these hours to accommodate training.

Session Details & Registration

  • Format: 15-minute sessions, beginning at 9:00 AM.
  • Capacity: Limited to 2 members per session.
  • Sign-Up: Registration is strictly required via the Golf Cart Training Sign Up page. Due to time constraints, only members who are signed up in advance will be trained.

NSSA West Range Update

September is going to be a busy month on the West Range! Whether you’re an experienced competitive shooter, completely new to practical shooting, or just looking for a way to build your skills, we’ve got something for you.

Here’s what’s happening:

September 5 — NSSA USPSA Match (Event Link)
Come watch or participate in one of our practical shooting matches and see what USPSA is all about.

September 7, 14, 21 & 28 — Mondays on West (5:30pm to Sunset)
Our weekly practical shooting nights continue! These sessions are designed to give shooters a place to practice movement, shooting positions, transitions, and other practical shooting skills in a relaxed environment.

September 15 — Ladies Night on West (5pm to 7:30pm) (Event Link) *Sign up not required*
This beginner-friendly evening is designed specifically for women who want to improve their handgun skills or learn more about practical shooting in a welcoming, low-pressure environment with our guests Madison, Kelly and Nicole.

September 19 — NSSA Picnic & West Range Airsoft Challenge (11:00 – 1:30 / 2:00 – 4:00)
We’re bringing more fun to the West Range! Join us for the NSSA picnic for an airsoft challenge designed to get everyone involved. Whether you’re an avid competitor or want a fun way to see what the West Range is all about we’ll be around all day hosting this event for members of all ages!

September 20 — Intro to West Range (Event sign up coming soon)
Ever wondered what happens on the West Range? This is your chance to find out. We’ll introduce you to practical shooting, explain what Mondays on West is all about, go over the basics, and give you an opportunity to experience the type of shooting we do on the range.

September 26 — USCCA Concealed Carry Class (Event Link)
Join us for a USCCA CCW course focused on the knowledge and skills needed for responsible concealed carry hosted by Nathan Mortimer.

FIRST FAST DRAW MATCH AT NSSA

NSSA had its first match this past Sunday, July 26! What a turnout!

The times were great and everyone had a wonderful time. Not to mention, some of the best pulled pork got gobbled down by hungry gunslingers!!!

We had two matches that day; a 2X (double elimination) bracket match to start and a standard 3X match to finish.

Member “Chalkdust” won both matches that dirty dog.…..but the rest of the gang will be out to get him in Aug when we reconvene for the next match!

Come see what we are all about! Come to a “Try It” class! Come say hello on a Thursday night!

Sharpen your mechanics and mindset . This focused 3-hour course covers essential safety, performance-driven fundamentals, and live-fire drills.

  • Complete the classroom session to earn your NSSA Holster Sticker.
    • Please Note: As of 5/8/2026, this course no longer qualifies toward NSSA Holster Certification requirements.
  • Refine your grip, stance, and recoil control.

Good Friday Trap Shoot April 3 2026

NSSA is pleased to announce its annual Good Friday Trap Shoot and Fish Fry on April 3rd 2026.

This 100 bird event features $1200 in added money sponsored by R&R Financial and Weber Insurance

Registration Open: 9AM

Competition Start: 10AM

Kitchen Opens: 11AM – 1PM, Dinner 4PM – 8PM

NSSA will be holding a Fish Fry

Good Friday Trap Download

Spring 2026 Trap League Starts Mar 12th

Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 12 week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights at the end of the 12 weeks. Our League starts Thursday, March 12th, with a 50 bird pre-season shoot. This shoot is a great opportunity for shooters to dust off their guns and get back out on the range. Following the 50 bird shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $14 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club. Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! Please be advised that shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice instead, however league squads will have preference over trap availability.

Make Ready!

On behalf of the West Range Committee, we want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who joined us on February 21st for our Make Ready event. Your enthusiasm and participation made the day an absolute success!

Whether you were taking your first steps into dynamic shooting or just brushing up on the fundamentals, it was fantastic to see everyone so engaged. During the event, participants had the opportunity to dive into:

  • Safety Protocols & Best Practices: Ensuring everyone stays safe and responsible while having a great time on the range.
  • Range Commands: Reviewing the standard commands so everyone knows exactly what to expect and how to respond.
  • Event Registration: Walking through the process of how to seamlessly sign up for competitive, dynamic-style events.
  • Live Stage: Getting out there and testing out those skills firsthand on a real event stage!

The West Range Committee had a ton of fun putting this event together, and we certainly hope our participants had just as much fun attending. We are already looking forward to seeing you all put these skills to use at our upcoming local matches.

Better Late Than Never: Join Us for the “A Little Late New Year’s Shoot”! Feb 7 2026

We know what you’re thinking: “New Year’s was weeks ago!” And you’re right. We originally planned to ring in 2026 with a bang on January 1st, but Mother Nature had other plans. Between the biting wind and temperatures cold enough to freeze the whiskers off a brass monkey, we decided that shivering uncontrollably isn’t exactly the best foundation for a steady aim. We figured you’d prefer to keep all your fingers and toes rather than leave them on the range as a frosty New Year’s sacrifice!It is still plenty cold here in Pittsburgh, so we aren’t bold enough to say the frost has settled just yet—but we are certainly hoping for a bit more cooperation from the heavens by the time the event rolls around!
