Nov 2016 Rifle Sight-in Days

NSSA’s Rifle Committee will once again hold sight-ins days this year for hunting rifles on November 19 and 20, and also Nov 26 and 27, from 8 am til 4 pm each day. These dates are the Saturday and Sunday before and after Thanksgiving.

This activity will be open to members at $1/rifle, and $2/rifle for non members and is open to the public. We will supply targets, sandbags, spotting scopes and assistance. All you need to bring is firearms and ammo. Distances will be 50, 100, and 200 yards.
Participants may sight in rifles, muzzleloaders and slug guns. Cost is $1 per firearm for members and $2 for non-members.This event is subject to cancellation depending on the weather conditions. We will only cancel any day that the temperature does not rise above 25 F. or for all day rain. If we cancel, the range will be open for regular shooting.

Come on out and get you deer rifle ready for the season, and enjoy swapping stories with other hunters.

Ladies Only Day Saturday Nov 5th

In response to feedback from the recent Ladies Pistol Class, NSSA is hosting a low key, Ladies Only day Saturday November 5th from 10am to 2pm on the West Range. This event is open to the public – all are invited to participate.

The range will be restricted to lady shooters only between 10am and 2pm.  You are free to arrive anytime within that period and leave whenever you like.  The closer to 2pm you arrive, the less time you will have to shoot.  In the unlikely event we are overwhelmed with lady shooters, we may ask to relinquish some time for later arrivals.  We look forward to having you participate.

NSSA will furnish targets, loaner eye and ear protection (if needed), and Range Safety Officers will be on duty.  The cost is $5.00 each.

Participants need to bring their own handgun and proper ammunition. If you are uncertain of your handgun manipulation skills, our trained Range Safety Officers will be available to assist you.

Please dress for the weather.  In the event of inclement weather (significant rain) the event will be canceled via E-mail to our members.

NSSA hunters:  The West Range will be in use for a scheduled event on Saturday November 5th from 10am to 2pm.  Please use caution if you are hunting in that area.

First Meat Shoot this Sunday 10/23

We wilwpid-wp-1413675982885.jpegl be holding our first Meat Shoot of the season this Sunday, October 23rd at10:00am. Additional shoots are scheduled for November 6th, November 20th, December 4th, and December 18th.

For those of you who have participated in our meat shoots in the past, we have made a few changes that we hope will make them more enjoyable for all participants. We can now accommodate larger squads of approximately 15 shooters per squad thanks to our new and improved concrete pads. This means less waiting and more shooting!
We will also be holding what we’re calling the “lucky shot” raffle each shoot. Shooters can purchase raffle tickets for $2 each. After the 7th round of shooting we will pull a ticket and that shooter will have one shot to break the lucky target. If the 1st shooter misses we will pull a 2nd ticket and a 3rd if necessary. We will not pull more than 3 tickets per shoot. If a shooter breaks the target they win all of the raffle money. If nobody breaks the target the money will carry over to the next meat shoot. Try your hand and see how lucky you are!

2017 Membership Renewals NOW DUE

Don’t forget that 2017 Membership Renewals are due by September 30th, 2016. If we do not receive your dues and the required renewal form by this date your access card will be shut off. Renewal forms were sent out back in August and they MUST accompany your dues to be accepted. If you did not receive a form please contact the membership chairman via email ASAP at membership@northsidesportsmen.com

CMPSealNSSA can easily accommodate more CMP – NRA rifle match shooters than are currently participating.

This program gives rifle owners a great way to practice their marksmanship with a variety of matches during the year featuring a variety of rifle types.  The competition is low-key, with the only prizes being bragging-rights.  Safety is taken very seriously but all other aspects of the matches are rather informal.  Most participants are only interested in doing better than they did in their last match.

We welcome any newcomers to our program, which runs from April through October.  The match fee is just $10 and the matches are open to the public.  We have all the equipment needed to try out the program, available for free loan.

 

We would very much like to encourage youth participation (which is a cornerstone of the national CMP program).  To that end, anyone under the age of 18 participates for free.

 

The matches are generally held on the 1st and 3rdSundays of the month.

 

The September NRA High-Power match has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept 25th.  Sign-in will be at 8:30 and the match starts at 9:00.

 

We start each stage in position (a safety decision).

 

Each position gets two sighter rounds.  So there’s a total of 58 shots, of which 50 shots are for score.

2016 NSSA Handgun Challenge

Members: Not getting emails?

Our email distribution list is created from our membership database. If you’re not receiving emails, it is likely your information is incorrect in our system.

We have found in most cases this is due to simple typographical errors such as missing/incorrect letters or wrong suffix (.com  .net .org  etc).

As we are currently in the renewal cycle, now is the time to correct these issues.

Please ensure your your email address and other pertinent information on the membership renewal form is correct and legible so we can maintain your records.
