West Range expanded availability
The West Range Committee and the Board of Directors have jointly agreed to modify the West Range shooting policy in order to make the range available to more NSSA club members. Effective immediately, a RSO is no longer required to accompany a member to open the West Range. Any two NSSA members can now open the West Range together at any time. This means both shooters must be NSSA Members, and does not mean an NSSA member and a guest. You must both be NSSA MEMBERS.
The only time the West Range will not be open to members is when a scheduled event or training session is taking place. So, before heading out to shoot on the West Range always be sure to check the club’s website to verify that the range is open.
There will also be a movable standing target frame available that can be placed anywhere in the stones forward of the pavilion for members that have been approved to draw from a holster and have their red holster sticker displayed. Reminder: holster work cannot be done while UNDER the pavilion.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the West Range Chairman: west.range@northsidesportsmen.

The hunting sign in sheet has been relocated to the outer lobby area. All hunting policies remain in effect and must be observed.
2019 NSSA Hunting Season Range Closures
It has been the policy in the past for all outdoor ranges to be closed during the first week of deer season, typically Monday after Thanksgiving until the following Saturday night. However this year the PA Game Commission is opening deer season one extra day, Saturday November 30- but not Sunday December 1.
Therefore the NSSA Board of Directors has decided that the following closures will be in effect for this year:
- All outdoor ranges will be closed Friday evening November 29 at dusk and will
remain closed all day Saturday November 30. - Rifle, Pistol, and the West Range will remain closed until Sunday December 8.
- Trap and Skeet will be open Sunday December 1 during regular hours, will be closed Monday December 2 thru Saturday December 7, and reopen Sunday December 8. In addition, Trap and Skeet will be open their regular evening hours after 5 PM (4 PM if there are no hunters signed into the Hunting Sign In Book).
- Outdoor Archery will be closed from Saturday November 30 until Sunday December 8, except that it will be open Sunday December 1. There will be no closures of the indoor Archery Range.
Please understand that there is to be NO shooting of firearms during the range closures anywhere on NSSA property except in legal hunting. If you don’t have your firearm sighted in before Saturday November 30, you cannot sight it in here during the week of closures. Violators will be subject to disciplinary action by the Board.

Great interest in Intro to Trap
NSSA welcomes and encourages everyone to participate in our sport. It is of particular interest to promote involvement by women and youth. We have recently offered Trap introduction sessions to inspire their participation.
Kevin Bernauer and Butch Novak among others in the Trap committee have done a tremendous job coordinating these events and providing instruction to new recruits. We hope to see them joining us more regularly!
