Volunteer opportunities – Rifle/Pistol range CLOSED June 6th morning
We have two volunteer opportunities for Saturday morning, June 6th…
The rifle and pistol range needs 4 volunteers from 8:00 to 10:00 to cut grass, weed whack, and prime the new shed.
Both the Rifle Range and the Pistol Ranges will be closed on Saturday during this time.
We also need 5 physically fit volunteers from 8:00 to 12:00 to do perimeter signage. Applicants should be able to climb a fairly steep 100 ft. hill without difficulty.
Of course, all volunteers receive credit against 2016 dues, up to a maximum of six hours.
Volunteers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please email volunteer@northsidesportsmen.com if you’re interested.
Thank you for your support of NSSA.
Regards,
–Glen Beattie

3 Gun Shoot season opener Sunday May 31
Next Sunday May 31 will be the first 3 gun shoot of the year. Last month’s pin and plate shoot was a great success and we expect the same for 3 gun as well. Come out and see how the West Range development is progressing and enjoy the day shooting with your fellow members!
We have made changes to the details for this upcoming season:
1) 22 Rifle – Shooters must hit 16 targets; 8 targets at stage 1, perform a tactical reload and then shoot 8 targets at stage 2. The shooter may load 10 round in each clip.
2) Shotgun – Shooters will have 6 poppers to hit as they move through the course.
3) Pistol – The shooter will have 5 targets at 2 different positions and must perform a tactical reload between positions.
Don’t forget sign up early! We will accept sign in from 9 am to 950 am so we can get ready to shoot at 10:00 am.
The price will be $10.00 to shoot. There will be 12 gauge shotgun shells at the shoot to purchase if you need more ammo. We will do our best to move you through the course at quickly and safely as possible.
Please remember, hollow point ammo is NOT permitted.
We hope to see you there!
Thank you – Randy Hoffman, West Range Chairman
Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp Holds 4th Annual Fundraiser Trap Shoot
On Saturday, May 9th, Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp held their 4th Annual Trap Shoot for Heroes. WHHC is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization that provides hunting trips as a healing experience for wounded veterans.
Not only does the Trap Shoot for Heroes event help to raise money each year to make these hunting trips possible, it provides the wounded veterans with an opportunity to get out on the trap range and have a little fun themselves. This year’s event drew in 90+ shooters, both novice and experienced, with 9 of the shooters being NSSA “regulars”. Trophies were given out for Overall Champion, Female Champion, and Team Champions. Congrats to the following people!
Overall Champion: Bob Szoszorek- 49/50
Female Champion: Emily Noftz- 49/50
Team Champions: Kelly Simmons, Frank Sommer, Dan Thomson, Bob Szoszorek & Paul Szoszorek
Special thanks to Jeff Kelly, Ron Halli, and all of the other NSSA volunteers that made this event run smoothly and of course to all of the veterans in attendance for their service to our country. God Bless! We are proud to hold this event at NSSA and are already looking forward to next year.

Pin and Plate draws a crowd
There was fantastic attendance at the first pin and plate shoot of the season. Our Chairmen Randy and Rich wish to thank the days volunteers and participants. It was a great success.
Please note a that there are a few updates to be aware of.
First, there was an oversight in the rules which was realized today. For safety reasons Hollow Point Ammo is NOT permitted. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused today from enforcement of this rule. As you all know, safety is is our priority at NSSA.
Second, there is a new email address that will be used for events on the West Range (including Pin and Plate).
Please direct emails to: west.range@northsidesportsmen.com
The pin and plate page has been updated to reflect the restriction and contact change.
