CMP Rifle Match on Sunday, June 21

CMPSealThis coming Sunday is the traditional Father’s Day rifle match at NSSA.  It will be the classic NRA High Power Rifle Match held by the Civilian Marksmanship Program , this event will challenge shooters skill with open sights at 200 yards and 300 yards. As usual, this regularly scheduled event is open to the public.

The course of fire is 8 rounds of sighters and 50 rounds for score, for a total of 58 rounds for the day.

image006If you don’t own a qualifying rifle, NSSA has two Bushmaster XM-15 E2S A2 with 20” barrels available for match use, for free. The club also has magazines, slings, empty-chamber indicators, and a ground mat that can be used during the matches.  This is an excellent way to give the sport a try for just the cost of ammunition.  (Note:  Only factory ammunition can be used with the club rifles—no reloads.)

Volunteer opportunities – Rifle/Pistol range CLOSED June 6th morning

We have two volunteer opportunities for Saturday morning, June 6th…

 
The rifle and pistol range needs 4 volunteers from 8:00 to 10:00 to cut grass, weed whack, and prime the new shed.

Both the Rifle Range and the Pistol Ranges will be closed on Saturday during this time.

We also need 5 physically fit volunteers from 8:00 to 12:00 to do perimeter signage.  Applicants should be able to climb a fairly steep 100 ft. hill without difficulty.

Of course, all volunteers receive credit against 2016 dues, up to a maximum of six hours.

Volunteers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please email volunteer@northsidesportsmen.com if you’re interested.

Rifle sight in days open to the public fall 2014

NSSA’s Rifle Committee will hold sight-ins days for hunting rifles on November 22 and 23, and also Nov 29 and 30, from 8 am til 4 pm.

 
These are the Saturday and Sunday before and after Thanksgiving. This activity will be open to members at $1/rifle, and $2/rifle for non members. We will supply targets at 100 yards, sandbags, spotting scopes, advice and assistance as needed.

We will also repeat the deer hunter’s challenge, a 4 shot match at different distances at deer size targets. Come out, sight your rifle in, then take the challenge for $2!

Also, we need volunteers to help, good for volunteer hours for next year. We particularly need help on both Sundays.

Rifle Range Closures 10/27 – 28

The rifle range will be closed Monday and Tuesday this week during work hours for the completion of the left hand berm. We were just informed of this and we have to go with the schedule as given. The rules will be range closed if the bulldozer and dump trucks are working. Range will be open when they are not. This will mean evenings after 5 pm the range should be open both days. Pistol will be open during this time. Thanks for everyone’s support for this necessary work.
