NSSA considering Hunting committee
NSSA is exploring the idea of creating a hunting committee. For example, this committee will be responsible for the following:
- Setting policy for members to hunt on our property and other lands
- Enhance hunting by creating new opportunities to hunt
- Manage our property to maximize hunting opportunities
- Raise funds to carry our these new enhancements
These are just some of the possible goals of the new committee. What we are looking for are committed members willing to lead this effort, take charge and see it through.
To get a feel for members’ interest, we need some feedback. Please email Stan Hoover at rifle@northsidesportsmen.com with your thoughts, comments, etc. From the responses, we will proceed and decide what the next course of action will be.
Thanks on behalf of the Officers and Board of Directors

CMP Rifle Match on Sunday, June 21
This coming Sunday is the traditional Father’s Day rifle match at NSSA. It will be the classic NRA High Power Rifle Match held by the Civilian Marksmanship Program , this event will challenge shooters skill with open sights at 200 yards and 300 yards. As usual, this regularly scheduled event is open to the public.
The course of fire is 8 rounds of sighters and 50 rounds for score, for a total of 58 rounds for the day.
If you don’t own a qualifying rifle, NSSA has two Bushmaster XM-15 E2S A2 with 20” barrels available for match use, for free. The club also has magazines, slings, empty-chamber indicators, and a ground mat that can be used during the matches. This is an excellent way to give the sport a try for just the cost of ammunition. (Note: Only factory ammunition can be used with the club rifles—no reloads.)
We hope everyone can enhance Father’s Day with us on Sunday.
If you are interested in more details, email the CMP Chairman
Full CMP schedule visible after the break.
Defensive Firearms Training for all levels NOW AVAILABLE!
For some time now, NSSA has wanted to host a training organization that could provide high quality professional instruction to shooters of all levels, particularly beginners new to the firearm world.
After over a year of careful screening and evaluation, we are proud to introduce INPAX | Academy of Personal Protection; a Wexford based, full-spectrum personal security training firm that teaches self-defense, defensive firearms, and critical incident response training to individuals, families, corporations and schools across the country. INPAX founder, Sam Rosenberg, is a former Marine Corps officer with extensive experience in the close protection world; is the author of two books, and is a nationally recognized subject-matter-expert whose opinions are routinely sought out by the news media. Volunteer opportunities – Rifle/Pistol range CLOSED June 6th morning
We have two volunteer opportunities for Saturday morning, June 6th…
The rifle and pistol range needs 4 volunteers from 8:00 to 10:00 to cut grass, weed whack, and prime the new shed.
Both the Rifle Range and the Pistol Ranges will be closed on Saturday during this time.
We also need 5 physically fit volunteers from 8:00 to 12:00 to do perimeter signage. Applicants should be able to climb a fairly steep 100 ft. hill without difficulty.
Of course, all volunteers receive credit against 2016 dues, up to a maximum of six hours.
Volunteers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please email volunteer@northsidesportsmen.com if you’re interested.
Thank you for your support of NSSA.

3 Gun Shoot season opener Sunday May 31
Next Sunday May 31 will be the first 3 gun shoot of the year. Last month’s pin and plate shoot was a great success and we expect the same for 3 gun as well. Come out and see how the West Range development is progressing and enjoy the day shooting with your fellow members!
We have made changes to the details for this upcoming season:
1) 22 Rifle – Shooters must hit 16 targets; 8 targets at stage 1, perform a tactical reload and then shoot 8 targets at stage 2. The shooter may load 10 round in each clip.
2) Shotgun – Shooters will have 6 poppers to hit as they move through the course.
3) Pistol – The shooter will have 5 targets at 2 different positions and must perform a tactical reload between positions.
Don’t forget sign up early! We will accept sign in from 9 am to 950 am so we can get ready to shoot at 10:00 am.
The price will be $10.00 to shoot. There will be 12 gauge shotgun shells at the shoot to purchase if you need more ammo. We will do our best to move you through the course at quickly and safely as possible.
Please remember, hollow point ammo is NOT permitted.
We hope to see you there!
Thank you – Randy Hoffman, West Range Chairman
