Northside Sportsmen’s Association will hold a swap meet at the clubhouse for all members at the August regular membership meeting on August 4, 2015 from 6PM till 8PM.
Any member who has registered for the event may bring sporting items to trade or sell to other members.
Please, sporting items only! No household junk, no liquor, no furniture, no regular clothing, etc. Acceptable items include ammunition, reloading equipment and supplies, firearm accessories, hunting/shooting clothing, optics, fishing and hunting equipment, archery equipment and accessories, etc. If you bring a firearm to sell, it MUST be unloaded with the action locked open using a tie-wrap. You will be responsible for complying with all state and federal laws. There will be someone at the meet to perform firearm ownership transfers for a fee.
All materials and equipment brought to the meet must be removed by the end of the evening. Do not leave anything on a table.
To participate, please send an email to register for a half table to display your items. The registration is so we know how many tables to provide. There is no charge to participate. If you don’t want to sell, then stop by and look through the things others bring. Maybe you’ll find something you’ve been looking for! Then, stick around for the meeting at 8 PM, and have a free dinner afterwards. Remember to wear your membership card.
To register, email your name to Stan Hoover at rifle@northsidesportsmen.com. If you are not registered in advance, table space will not be provided.
Please join us for the M1 Garand CMP match coming up on Sunday, July 12th. In addition to Garands, we welcome as-issued 1903 Springfields, 1917 Enfields, 1941 Johnsons, and M1 Carbines.
NSSA is exploring the idea of creating a hunting committee. For example, this committee will be responsible for the following:
These are just some of the possible goals of the new committee. What we are looking for are committed members willing to lead this effort, take charge and see it through.
To get a feel for members’ interest, we need some feedback. Please email Stan Hoover at rifle@northsidesportsmen.com with your thoughts, comments, etc. From the responses, we will proceed and decide what the next course of action will be.
Thanks on behalf of the Officers and Board of Directors
For those who are curious about 3 gun, check out this video shoot by one of our participants at our first 3 gun event of the season. If you are looking for a fun and challenging shooting event, we welcome you to join us. As usual, this event is open to the public.
This coming Sunday is the traditional Father’s Day rifle match at NSSA. It will be the classic NRA High Power Rifle Match held by the Civilian Marksmanship Program , this event will challenge shooters skill with open sights at 200 yards and 300 yards. As usual, this regularly scheduled event is open to the public.
The course of fire is 8 rounds of sighters and 50 rounds for score, for a total of 58 rounds for the day.
If you don’t own a qualifying rifle, NSSA has two Bushmaster XM-15 E2S A2 with 20” barrels available for match use, for free. The club also has magazines, slings, empty-chamber indicators, and a ground mat that can be used during the matches. This is an excellent way to give the sport a try for just the cost of ammunition. (Note: Only factory ammunition can be used with the club rifles—no reloads.)
We hope everyone can enhance Father’s Day with us on Sunday.
If you are interested in more details, email the CMP Chairman
Full CMP schedule visible after the break.
For some time now, NSSA has wanted to host a training organization that could provide high quality professional instruction to shooters of all levels, particularly beginners new to the firearm world.
