NSSA Youth Air Rifle heralds brief success

Several months ago, respected member Jeff Knauss proposed an Air Rifle program to the NSSA board which was approved with great interest. Jeff is an experienced NRA instructor who runs a very successful program at Allegheny Country Rifle Club. He is passionate about bringing opportunities of our sport to youth, and saw a great potential to expand the opportunity here at NSSA.
A great deal of work has taken place since then to make this program a reality. To name a few things, Jeff worked tirelessly to find volunteers who would help run the program, schedule the dates with the Indoor Archery Chairman, obtain the necessary equipment, and coordinate securing of additional funding from the NRA and 4H. Prior to the unfortunate health safety concerns, NSSA held 4 air rifle sessions with great success! The NSSA executive team applauds the board and membership for its support. We hope to resume this program as soon as possible and continue to promote and grow the opportunity for our youth!

Thank you WHHC sponsors and supporters
Today was a great day for Trap. NSSA is proud to support this wonderful cause. We would like to thank all those who participated in today’s charity event!

The Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping wounded combat veterans heal. We accomplish our mission by getting our Wounded Heroes outdoors hunting and fishing thereby challenging, empowering, and enabling them to do the things they love to do.
Offering our wounded veterans the opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy a hunting or fishing trip with all expenses paid, our group focuses on uniting fellow Wounded Heroes on our outdoor adventures. On our trips, our Heroes create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. The Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp is here for our Heroes, and we hope that you share in our passion and commitment to do what we can for the men and women who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms.
We believe that healing begins on the hunt!
Youth Archers take on 3-D!

We added a new twist to today’s fun activity for our Youth Archers by offering the opportunity to practice with 3-D targets. They quickly realized the challenges they face when aiming at targets which are at different distances and angles. Everyone in attendance had a great time!
Trap League Starts March 7th
Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 12-week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights at the end of the 12-weeks.
Our Spring League starts Thursday, March 7th, with a 100 bird pre-season shoot. This shoot is a great opportunity for shooters to dust off their guns and get back out on the range. Following the 100 bird shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.
Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $10 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club.
Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! Please be advised that during this 12-week league shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice instead, however league squads will have preference over trap availability.
Thanks,
Ron Halli
Youth Archers play battleship

This Sunday, coach Sandy organized a fun day for our Youth Archers. They played battleship similar to the actual game and some parents participated as well! Everyone had a great time!
