Nov 2015 Rifle Sight-in Days

NSSA’s Rifle Committee will once again hold sight-ins days this year for hunting rifles on November 21 and 22, and also Nov 28 and 29, from 8 am til 4 pm each day. These dates are the Saturday and Sunday before and after Thanksgiving.

This activity will be open to members at $1/rifle, and $2/rifle for non members. This event is open to the public. We will supply targets, sandbags, spotting scopes and assistance. All you need to bring is firearms and ammo. Distances will be 50, 100, and 200 yards.
Participants may sight in rifles, muzzleloaders and slug guns. Cost is $1 per firearm for members and $2 for non-members. This event is open to the public.

This event is subject to cancellation depending on the weather conditions. We will only cancel any day that the temperature does not rise above 25 F. or for all day rain. If we cancel, the range will be open for regular shooting.

Come on out and get you deer rifle ready for the season, and enjoy swapping stories with other hunters.

Hunting Committee meeting Sept 20

There will be a meeting this Sunday, Sept 20, at NSSA, at 2 PM open to any member interested in creating/joining a hunting committee.

The purpose of the meeting is to gage interest from the hunters for a committee, discuss a list of what the committee would aim to do, choose a person to act as chairman (subject to the president’s approval), and discuss the land trust’s proposal for the 88 acres on our border.

If you are interested in being part of this, just show up at 2 o’clock and help out. We’ll meet in the meeting room.

NSSA considering Hunting committee

image NSSA is exploring the idea of creating a hunting committee.  For example, this committee will be responsible for the following:

  • Setting policy for members to hunt on our property and other lands
  • Enhance hunting by creating new opportunities to hunt
  • Manage our property to maximize hunting opportunities
  • Raise funds to carry our these new enhancements

These are just some of the possible goals of the new committee.  What we are looking for are committed members willing to lead this effort, take charge and see it through.

To get a feel for members’ interest, we need some feedback.  Please email Stan Hoover at rifle@northsidesportsmen.com with your thoughts, comments, etc. From the responses, we will proceed and decide what the next course of action will be.
