NSSA will host an SAFTEA Bleeding Management Class Nov 1, 2024

When: Friday, November 1 from 6:00pm to10:00pm

Where: NSSA Meeting Room

Cost: $50 person (Limit of 10 students)

This course is based on the Tactical Combat Casualty Course, NAEMT, Advanced First Aid, the American College of Surgeons protocol, and the National Stop the Bleed Course.

The number one cause of preventable death after an injury is uncontrolled bleeding. Millions of people experience a life-threatening bleed each year due to an accident, injury, chronic disease, etc. In an emergency situation, major bleeds can cause serious complications and become life threatening in a matter of just a few minutes.

This program will present techniques that will allow you the ability to identify life-threatening bleeding and build skills to intervene by applying life saving measures.

This course is available to NSSA members and immediate family members (spouse or children who are 18 years of age and still reside at home.)

OC Pepper Spray Class Oct 18th 2024

Anyone can benefit from taking an OC Pepper Spray class – whether you’re a runner, commuter, student, someone who travels for work, retiree, homemaker, college student – this class is for you! This four-hour class will help you learn how to identify threatening behaviors and be better prepared to escape dangerous situations safely. The proper use of OC Pepper Spray provides a viable non-lethal response to counter many threats that you may encounter.

This course is available to NSSA members and immediate family members (spouse or children who are 18 years of age and still reside at home.)

PA Hunter-Trapper Education Sept 7th 2024

NSSA Is pleased to host the Pennsylvania Hunter Trapper Education Sept 7th!

This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.
Important In order to prepare for your class, read Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 located at Today’s Hunter & Trapper in PA.

NOTE: You must be at least 11 years of age to register for this class!

We will break for lunch around noon. NSSA will provide a light Lunch to ALL Registered Students

2024 Family Picnic Sept 14th

Northside Sportsmen’s Association will be holding a Family Picnic on Saturday, September 14th, 2024.  This picnic is free for all current members and their immediate family members (spouse, children/grandchildren under 18yo). Guests are welcome but must pay a fee of $25 at the door. Food will be served from 12pm-3pm and will include picnic food, water and soft drinks. We will also provide games and activities for the children in attendance.

Please don’t delay in returning your renewal form promptly to maintain your membership.

There is high demand to join and we must proceed with inviting new members to fill vacated spots immediately after the renewal cycle.

NRA RSO Training Sept 21, 2024

NSSA’s Chief RSO Bob Pelles will be providing NRA Range Safety Officer training Sept 21, 2024

Please have your NRA member number handy. Class time  8am to 5pm. All course materials will be provided. Lunch will be ordered with the cost split among the participants.

Upon conclusion of the NRA training, NSSA Members will receive NSSA RSO training. If you are already an NRA RSO, you may join for this session at 5PM at no cost. Contact Bob to inform him you will participate in this training.

Fall 2024 Trap League Starts Aug 29

Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 12-week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights at the end of the 12-weeks.

Our Fall League starts Thursday, August 29th, with a 50 bird pre-season shoot. This shoot is a great opportunity for shooters to dust off their guns and get back out on the range. Following the 50 bird shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.

Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $14 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club. 

Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! Please be advised that shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice instead, however league squads will have preference over trap availability.

NSSA celebrates success of 2024 Can-Am Games Trapshooting Competition

We are thrilled to share the success of the trapshooting competition hosted by the North Side Sportsmen’s Association for the 2024 Can-Am Games. This event was a testament to the passion, skill, and sportsmanship of everyone involved.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Competitors

Firstly, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the competitors who participated. Your dedication and enthusiasm made the event truly special. It was inspiring to witness such incredible talent and camaraderie on display.

A Tribute to First Responders

It was an honor and a privilege for our club to participate in an event that recognizes and celebrates the service of our community’s first responders. These individuals, who are always ready to put their lives on the line to ensure our safety, demonstrated the same commitment and excellence in the competition as they do in their daily duties. We are proud to have hosted an event that acknowledges their hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to the Winners

A special congratulations to the winners! Your hard work and exceptional skills have earned you a well-deserved place at the top. We hope this victory brings you as much pride and joy as it brought to us watching you compete.

Appreciation for Our Volunteers

The success of this event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our NSSA members who volunteered their time and energy. From setting up the venue to ensuring everything ran smoothly, your dedication was instrumental in making this competition a triumph. Thank you for your unwavering support and hard work.

Recognition of Brenda Hill

We also want to take a moment to recognize Brenda Hill from Butler County. Brenda’s support over the past few months of planning and preparation has been invaluable. Her commitment and efforts behind the scenes ensured that everything was meticulously organized and executed. Thank you, Brenda, for your outstanding contribution to this event.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate the success of this year’s competition, we are already looking forward to future events. The spirit of sportsmanship and community that was evident throughout the 2024 Can-Am Games is something we cherish and aim to build upon in the years to come as we plan other events in the future.

NSSA Youth 3par Air Rifle league begins July 15th

North Side Sportsmen’s Association is excited to announce the launch of our Youth 3-Position Air Rifle League! This league is designed for experienced young shooters who are ready to take their skills to the next level in a competitive and structured environment.

League Details:

  • Equipment Classes Available: Precision and Sporter
  • Duration: 1 warm-up week followed by 8 weeks of league scoring

Time slots: 7PM-8PM and 8:15PM-9:15PM. On the first week, all participants must report at 6:30pm for registration, safety briefing, and equipment assignment.

  • Rules: The league will adhere to the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules
  • Cost: $10 for NSSA Youth Membership. NO cost for existing youth members.
