Ladies Pistol Class Saturday October 7, 2017
The Ladies Pistol Class date will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at North Side Sportsmen’s Association

Classroom is indoors with shooting outdoors – please dress appropriately for the weather.
THIS CLASS WILL USE THE MAIN MEETING ROOM AND THE WEST RANGE
(THE PISTOL RANGE WILL BE OPEN FOR NORMAL MEMBER USE)
The number of students is limited to 48 and will fill very quickly.
One class will be held in the AM and the other in the PM. Each class is four hours long.
CLASS SPACE IS LIMITED AND ONLY TIMELY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MAILED IN WITH A CHECK WILL HOLD A RESERVATION.
Participation is NOT limited to club members. There is no charge for instruction. The $60 registration fee is to cover ammunition and other expenses. Additional details are on the applicationwhich will also be posted on the club website: http://northsidesportsmen.com
Applicants must be least 18 years of age, be of excellent character, have a clean criminal record and not be the subject of an active PFA. Applicants must be capable of moderate physical
exercise such as golf. Recommended dress: a baseball cap with visor, a comfortable loose fitting long sleeve shirt buttoned to the top. Comfortable long pants and outdoor shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
NO advance reservations – only properly completed applications with check for $60 made out to NSSA will hold a spot.

JOAD Roster filled
All spots for the upcoming JOAD season have been filled. We apologize to those who we could not be accommodated, there are strict Archer to Coach ratio limits to ensure the proper level of instruction may be provided.
Rifle Range Renovation Schedule
Improvements for the Rifle Range pavilion are coming this fall. The first upgrade scheduled is the replacement of the broken concrete pad. Work will start Labor Day, Monday, September 4, 2017. This will require shutting down the range during work hours, 8 AM until about 3:30 or 4 PM all week. We will move the shooting benches into the grass and establish a new firing line there so that members may shoot each day after the workers finish. All range rules will remain the same as before. Shooters are still required to sign in as always, but will not be charged to shoot, as the cash box will be unavailable. The pistol range will not be affected by this work, and will remain open.
On Saturday, September 9 the workers are planning to pour the concrete. After that shooting out on the grass should be available every day all day, until we are told we can use the pad and bring the benches back under the pavilion. The F Class CMP shoot will occur on Sunday, September 10, weather permitting.
Get Ready! Fall Trap League starts soon
Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 15-week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights!
Our Fall League starts Thursday, August 31st, with a 100 bird pre-season shoot. After this shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.
Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $10 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club.
Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! During this 15-week league, shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice. Please be advised, however, that league squads will have preference over practice shooters for trap availability.

Test your skill using 3 different firearms; .22 rifle, handgun, and shotgun in an exciting course of fire.

AR-15 Challenge June 4th 2017
NSSA will host another AR15 challenge on Sunday June 4th 2017 on the West Range.
The AR 15 challenge will test your shooting skills using your AR15 at 7 different stages in various different positions: Standing, kneeling, prone strong arm and weak arm.
Requirements:
2 magazines for some of the stages. You will need at least 68 rounds of ammunition.
Rules:
You may use any AR style firearm and any sight but you may not change sights or the firearm during completion. If we have poor weather we will not require prone shooting – an alternate position will be decided.
Registration:

The cost will be $10.00 to shoot the challenge.
Sign in starts at 9am, shooting begins at 10am. Any shooters not shooting at the time will be required to help target changes and scoring.

Clout Archery Starts May 9th
NSSA Archers will hold the first Clout Archery event of the season Tuesday May 9th @ 6PM on the Trap Field. Events will follow on the second Tuesday of the month throughout the summer.
What is Clout you ask? Archers shoot arrows at a flag on a pole (“the Clout”) from a long distance. Points are scored depending on how close each arrow lands to the flag. This is great fun and a lighthearted event. All are welcome!
Fee: $2
