The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a U.S. government-chartered program that promotes firearm safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens. The CMP operates through a network of affiliated shooting clubs and state associations that cover every state in the U.S. The clubs and associations offer the opportunity for continued firearm practice and competition. Any U.S. citizen who is not legally prohibited from owning a firearm may participate.
The Northside Sportsman’s Association (NSSA) is hosting a CMP informational clinic on April 12, 2016 at 7:00 pm to present an overview of CMP/NRA match procedures and best-practices, discuss this year’s match events and answer questions.
This year’s match events include:
Although a basic understanding of firearms and firearm safety is a prerequisite to participating in a match, you don’t even have to own your own rifle. NSSA has two AR-15 rifles to loan to participants, which can be used at the seven NRA Rifle Matches in 2016.
At the meeting, you will be able to ask questions and learn more about the CMP, CMP events, and procedures used during the events (match procedures, qualifying firearms, range commands, etc.). You will also be able to learn about some exciting new provisions for 2016 that allow for a greater number of rifles and participants.
Come to the CMP informational meeting on April 12 to find out more on how to get involved and participate in CMP activities!

Every Fall and Spring NSSA hosts a 12-week trap league that takes place on Thursday Nights. Shooters are divided into 5 teams which compete against each other for shells, prizes, and most importantly, bragging rights at the end of the 12-weeks.
Our Spring League starts Thursday, March 10th, with a 100 bird pre-season shoot. This shoot is a great opportunity for shooters to dust off their guns and get back out on the range. Following the 100 bird shoot, shooters will be divided into the 5 even teams based on their score and known ability, and these are the teams they will shoot 50 birds each week for throughout the rest of the season.
Sign-up times are 4pm-8pm each Thursday and it costs $10 per week to shoot the league. This cost not only covers the targets each week but also the prizes and the end of the league banquet dinner that we have at the club.
Everyone is welcome, including non members, so we hope to see you out there! Please be advised that during this 12-week league shooters are not required to participate in the league and can opt to shoot practice instead, however league squads will have preference over trap availibility.

For some time now, NSSA has wanted to host a training organization that could provide high quality professional instruction to shooters of all levels, particularly beginners new to the firearm world.
After over two years of careful screening and evaluation, we are proud to introduce INPAX | Academy of Personal Protection; a Wexford based, full-spectrum personal security training firm that teaches self-defense, defensive firearms, and critical incident response training to individuals, families, corporations and schools across the country. INPAX founder, Sam Rosenberg, is a former Marine Corps officer with extensive experience in the close protection world; is the author of two books, and is a nationally recognized subject-matter-expert whose opinions are routinely sought out by the news media.
The highly skilled INPAX training cadre specialize in working with beginners, and the INPAX Defensive firearms program provides a step-by-step approach to systematically building the skills necessary to safely and effectively own, carry, and use a firearm as a protective instrument.
INPAX is now booking private and group classes – including 3 classes exclusively available to NSSA Members and their Guests for the Spring:
INPAX entry-level classes are great for first time shooters, spouses that you’d like to introduce to shooting, and experienced shooters who would like to expand their knowledge and capabilities through truly cutting edge training in the science of personal protection. Even experienced competitive shooters will find benefit from INPAX’s instructors who are also nationally ranked competitors, such as Matt Trout a USPSA Grand Master.
In the words of INPAX founder Sam Rosenberg “Personal security is a fundamental human need, but ultimately an individual responsibility.” We hope that by offering training of this caliber at our club, our members and families will be able to take one more step towards being able to responsibly protect themselves and their loved ones.
Program flyers will be posted in the Main Clubhouse, but for more information, please visit the INPAX web site: www.LiveWithConfidence.Com, or email or call at 888.433.2040 | info@inpax.net
PLEASE NOTE: INPAX handles all appointments and class registrations directly, so please don’t contact the club to register for classes – contact INPAX directly.
There was an impressive turnout for last Thursday’s indoor 3D archery shoot. Co-Chair Tom M. Set the field for the shoot and although he took it easy for the opener by setting most of the targets at 20 or 30 yards there were plenty of challenging shots.
Thanks to all who attended! It makes the effort worthwhile to see everyone participating and having fun. For those who are curious, don’t be shy.. There are many friendly folks here willing to help! We hope to see you in the weeks to come!
